Sorry and Thank-you Lincoln Street!

Spotted: It's been a bit of a stressful few days. I'm currently staying at my partners place on Lincoln because there's a deck being built at mine. I'm a bit out of my comfort zone. Many of you know Lincoln is a one way and I went to squeeze my little fiat in a spot last night. I'm not the best under pressure and there were some cars behind me. They weren't passing so I quickly pulled it in the spot and on the curb in the process and did not want to work on correcting at that moment... I left it there to go crawl inside and out of that situation. In the moment I must've put my four ways on and left them on all night! I'm so sorry to all the neighbors that must've had to deal with that incessant blinking!!! Incredibly insensitive on my end! I had no idea until this morning when I got in to go to work and the car was dead (and of course on the curb, parked like a jerk). I called my boyfriend who was at work and he was on his way to come give me a jump, but before that could happen a stranger pulled up beside me and offered a jump. I later got a call from the police asking if everything was all right due to the car flashing all night. I really appreciate the community looking out and again, apologize for being so frazzled by such a simple task like a new situation and parallel parking under pressure! Thank-you to the helpers in this community, it was incredibly appreciated.

Vehicle Thefts

There have been a string of thefts in Walkerville from vehicles. This is ramped up when high school students are on break during the summer. My vehicle alone has been ransacked twice in the last 2 months. Two iPods have been stolen from my vehicle and I can imagine what others have lost.

If you see suspicious youths trying to open car doors late at night, call the police. I would condone knocking some sense into them but they could be dangerous and violence won't solve anything. Lock your vehicles at night and if you have surveillance equipment on your home or car, take a look at the footage from the last few weeks.

FOUND IPAD

Monday my son and I found a iPad left outside and surely forgotten by accident. We are hoping to find the rightful owners, and couldn't leave it there knowing that it may end up in the be wrong hands/ sold/ stolen. If you lost an iPad on Monday, please message me (Jessica Carmen on Facebook) where and maybe the size/ colour of your iPad ? I'm trying to be very vague to make sure the proper details are given for me to return it to the right owner. Please share :)

The Floor Store spreading awareness

Driving down the street when I look up and see the sign at THE FLOOR STORE on Tec rd near Jefferson. Was so happy to see support and making people aware of the need to protect these animals. Good job guys!
A ripple in the water gets bigger and bigger and will soon become a wave :)

Pride parade

To the guy on the Home Depot float wearing black lipstick...you were spotted!! Spotted making fun of people on the street while you rode a float that's message is acceptance. The absolute hypocrisy of your actions is horrific. How can you support and ask for people to accept you if you openly mock and laugh with your female friend on a float that everyone is looking at?? I watched you for a solid 5 minutes while the parade was at a standstill. You laughed and made fun of one womans hair, you and your friend laughing and making sweeping motions about her bangs. Unbelievable. I took the time to point out your actions to my child to show her what intolerance and ignorance actually looks like in the real world. If you don't appreciate people judging you and want society to accept you for the choices you make about your person, then be ready to do the same to others. You should be ashamed of yourself.

It truly is the simple joys...

Every once in a while, there is a special soul that takes you by surprise and makes you pause. I work in the retail world. As most know, it's not always the easiest world to work in.

But today was different.

How beautiful a day can be, when touched by a simple act of kindness.

Today a sweet young girl named Emma, came through my line with her mom and little sibling. She smiled at me, and I made a comment about her beautiful nail polish and was told by her mom it was for her birthday! Her birthday is in August. As our conversation continued, I shared that my birthday is in August as well. I may of added that us August girls are super special.
Then it happened. Unexpected and sweet kindness, literally took me by surprise. As we were finishing, she quietly offered me a gift. Not just any gift, but a hand coloured and unique little kitty cat figurine she had just made! I also got a hug! Thank you!

Emma, I want you to know your sweet soul and amazing gift put a smile on my face that hasn't left since. It's a beautiful feeling when a stranger makes your heart feel so much joy it just feels like dancing!

My favourite saying, is It is the simple joys, the simple pleasures, the heart remembers and dearly treasures. So, thank you Emma, your kindness, your sweet heart and beautiful smile have made a huge impact on me. I sure hope your smile stays with you as long as the one you have given me does.

Please allow me to introduce you to my new kitty, who I have rightly given the name August

I would like to thank the kind gentleman who helped me out in the Costco parking lot today. I do not know your name, but I hope this message finds you. I was coming out with two cases of pop on the bottom of my cart, when one of the cases fell off. As I bent down to pick it up my receipt flew out of my hand and across the parking lot. Your wife(I am assuming) noticed and asked if I needed it. I said I guess not now, since it was long gone. I continued on and 50 feet later the case fell off again once again spraying pop everywhere (I have no idea how many cans exploded). You found me, and not only returned my receipt to me (I have no idea how you found it, as it was so windy out), but you insisted I go back and return the broken case to the store, and you walked my cart back for me ensuring it didn't fall off again. I was ready to just go home extremely frustrated. Thanks to you I was able to get a new case. I was much more careful this time, and I am very happy to report both cases made it home safely. It's so nice to see there are still gentlemen in our wonderful city. Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to help me out. I truly appreciate it!

Thank you

A huge thank you to all the wonderful young people who jumped to my 87 year old father's aid, when he fell outside of the Casino on Saturday night. He is sore, but basically okay. He remembers all your comforting words and is very grateful to all of you for your help. His words, What great kids they all were.
I'm sorry, I didn't get any names, but you know who you are, and rest assured you are wonderful, caring people! Thank you so much!
