Unwarranted parenting advise

Here's to you millennial 20 something year old male in the walmart shouting parenting advise across isles, without you I'm sure we would be truly lost. In case your mother didn't teach you what sarcasm is on top of manners and minding your own business let me assure you that was sarcasm. So to speak for mothers everywhere both stay at home like myself and other, if you do not have kids you do not get an opinion. You have zero idea what a day is like with children let alone a string of them on end without a break. You worry about me embarrassing them as they make a spectacle of themselves because I dare to inform them of the consequences of their actions. Actions have consequences the world doesn't owe You a living. So please take your advise and lack of insight elsewhere.

Shoutout

Just a shout out to all the workers at the Tim Hortons on Techumseh and Dougall. I have never received a bad coffee and you have the most amazing customer service. I drive all the way to the other side of town just because I have never had a bad experience there. Thanks for making my mornings a little brighter.

Stranger on the Elevator

This morning while waiting for the elevator in the parking garage, there was a woman who looked just like my Mom when she was younger. The same height, build, and beautiful face. I couldn't stop looking at her, and I blurted out "You look exactly like my Mom."
She gave me the warmest smile and I started crying. When we got on the elevator, I told her my Mom had just died in March, and she gave me the best hug (a real hug, the kind where you both hold on) while I cried. I thanked her, and she told me "I hope you have the most wonderful day."
Today I was reminded that we can make a difference in a complete stranger's day. That is so my Mom. And I know if my Mom was on the elevator with a crying stranger, she would have hugged the heck out of her too.
To this beautiful woman - thank you. I honestly felt like I was getting to hug my Mom again, and it was the best feeling ever. I hope you get to see this, I hope you know how very much your kindness meant to me, and above all, I hope you have the most wonderful day too.

You did nothing.

I'd like to call out everyone that drove past my mom today after she fell off her bicycle and did nothing. I hope you never have an accident where you need help. She needed an ambulance, which she called for on her own. Luckily she didn't hit her head, luckily she just broke and dislocated her arm, luckily she didn't lose consciousness. I hope you never need help, I hope you never lay on the side of a road watching helplessly as everyone ignores you.
To the people that seen her fall and did nothing, you suck.

Disabilities can be invisible

Shame on the man in the white truck at the Amherstburg Ribfest who went out of his way to berate me because I did not look like I had a disability as I pulled into a handicap spot at the Libro Centre. He commented twice, quite sarcastically, that he could help me get my wheelchair out of our car as he shook his head in disgust. Just because I'm not a senior citizen does not mean that I don't have a need for a handicap permit. I do my best to still enjoy life despite 17 years of chronic and increasing pain. Your ignorance, disapproval, cockiness, and chastisement was uncalled for and based solely on the fact that we were both under 50 and healthy looking as we sat in our car. Shame on you. You've been spotted.

Family Outting to Downtown Ouellette raises concern

My husband and I decided to take our kids to the downtown farmers market on Saturday. It was around 1130 in the morning and we started by parking on Ouellette and park area. As we got out of our vehicles it wasn't long as I had to grab my 4 year old daughter up in my arms as there were quite a few homeless people who looked rather dishevelled, strung out and worrisome to come across. One, as I stopped to attend to my daughter looked as though he wanted to grab my purse or reach in purse from a side if I hadn't turned around and looked him in the face. Shortly after, another group of three homeless people sitting on the sidewalk appeared to spit in our direction for no apparent reason whatsoever. As we walked to the corner of pelliser and park towards the farmers market there was another homeless person packed with a shopping cart. Then we noticed quite a few police officers on bikes who appeared to be tended to the homeless man. It was such a wake up call to my family on how hard this city has been affected by drug use and the alarming rate of homeless people. Kuddos to the Windsor police for keeping our family safe by just being present in the downtown area where we were at the time. You guys made it manageable. We definitely will have to reconsider weather or not to go again to the market as the safety of my family is number one.
