We went to Tanka Sushi on Walker road on October 2nd. My son loves this sushi place. We dont go very often but he asked to go for his Birthday dinner. While we were eating my daughter was jumping around not eating. There were two ladies behind us with a sweet little girl named Gabby. My daughter started to talk to them and they were very kind chatting with her. The more they talked with her the better I got her to eat. They asked how old my daughter was and my son pipped up excited saying he was 5 today and it was his birthday. When they were ready to leave they walked by the table and one handed my son a 5 dollar bill. She said 5 for five! We immediately said oh thats so nice thanks you really didnt have to do that. While saying this the next woman came by and handed him a 5 too and gave my daughter a toonie saying 2 for two. We really were so surprised and said thank you as they walked away. My son is just learing money and how it works so he really didnt understand the generosity but we sure did. We are teaching our children the importance of kindness in the world and this was a great example. We are now showing him what money means and what it can do for people. We are also going to use this to teach him how to pay it forward. Thank you to these kind strangers, your actions made my sons day and truely warmed my heart. We will definitely pay it forward.
On Tuesday oct 8th my car was broken into in broad daylight out front of where I work. Someone decided to break my window and steal my back back, I hope they are happy that inside was our dirty clothes because it was my overnight bag. They got away with my daughters nebulizer machine which she needs daily and all of my medications!! This happened on Ellis and mcdougall between noon and 330 pm. If anyone has seen and orange duffle with wheels. The nebulizer was green with Elsa stickers all over it and medications and hair products were in a purple bag. Police report was made but the cameras around us are crappy and guessing nothing can be done.
Comment below if you found the bag anywhere near that area.
Zerhs on Lauzon Road. A generous gentlemen paid for my mom and dads groceries. He was in line behind them gave the cashier 100.00 to pay their bill around 70.00. My mom didn't get his name but gave him a hug and thanked him. Its amazing that he did this for them being on a pension with the cost of everything going up. Last year my mom and dad paid for a women and her kids to get their cat from the vets the bill was way more than she could afford and my parents paid the balance of the bill. Paying it forward is extremely rewarding in many ways. So thank you again to the gentlemen who paid for our bill Georgie and Sam Murphy.
I'm not sure if you overheard my conversation, I don't know if it's because you noticed a look in my eye as you walked by. I got home and started thinking of a way to explain how you found the courage to walk up to me to ask me if I'm ok. I'm a 31 year old man going through a rough time in my life. I was sitting on a bench on Riverside and having a conversion with my aunt. I noticed you walk by with someone cause I looked up as you were looking my way. I wasn't even talking about stuff besides everyday chat, nothing related to how I really feel. I hung up and sat there quietly just staring. After a little while I went back to my truck and just sat there for about 2-3 min before I got a knock on my window. I rolled it down and you were there, a mature woman (I'm not going to guess your age) and you looked at me and asked me if I'm ok. I looked at you weird for a second wondering if I said something you over heard that made you ask me but I couldn't think of it. I answered and said I'm fine just having a rough week. Now listen, I'm not a small guy and I might look like a tough guy when people see me, I really didn't think I was the approachable kind of guy. You asked if you could give me a hug, without hesitating I got out of my truck and gave you a hug. You said you hope my week gets better and I almost broke down into tears but I kept it all in. You told me to have a good day and got into your car where an older gentleman was sitting in the driver's seat. I got goose bumps just typing this out.
This is a long shot but if you happen to read this and even though I thanked you as you walked away. I never really knew how thankful I was until I got home and thought about what just happened it made me realize how much it helped. So thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. You really helped me with that random question and simple hug, so thank you for asking. I know things will turn around for me just because of what happened today. Blessings
This refers to my purchases at the Shoppers Drug Mart at Howard and Tecumseh Road on Saturday, Oct. 5th. I had purchased 6 large bottles of juice, 2 Coffee creamers, and a number of other items. I am 83 yrs old and the items were very heavy. As I was exiting a lady followed me out and packed my items in various bags to make it easier for me when I got home. She said she was a nurse and did not want me to try to carry the parcels the way the clerk packed them. So to this very concerned nurse I would like to thank her There are many many good people in our city. Thank you I
Today October 8th I had my black jeep parked on mill street in between Victoria south and wigle. When I came out I noticed visible damage to the driver side rear panel, the paint from the other vehicle was white and still on my jeep. If anyone saw anything please report it to police because I will be searching every day till I find a white vehicle with rear end damage and potential black paint
I'll start this with - I am an immigrant. I received my Permanent Resident status in 2014 and passed my citizenship test last month. I am just waiting for my ceremony date now.
I've gotten to know Windsor over these last 5 years fairly well and don't think anyone ever tells you how wonderful you really are. Carousel of Nations? I'm in love with it. All of the festivals along the river? Summer is always entertaining! Art in the Park in Walkerville? I never miss it! Downtown on the weekends? I'm a bit old for that but I love seeing so many people out having a great time!
I can see Windsor is going through some things. Unemployment, low wages, high housing costs, rising river levels that will likely never go back down, manufacturing struggling, sure, Rose City is having a rough spot. That's why I feel the need to tell you this.
I love you, Windsor. You're beautiful. You're interesting. You're a delight. In these last 5 years I've traveled to a lot of places in Canada in order to better get to know my new country and am always proud to tell people Windsor is my home.
