I know this has been talked about A LOT in Windsor, but with EC row under construction I feel the need to say it again. The correct way to merge at a merge zone is to ZIPPER MERGE (take turns) from both lanes AT the merge point! Cars should not be lined up for 3 km in a straight line while drivers try to block the people attempting to do it right. There are signs that say, take turns. This means zipper merging, NOT forming a single file line. Windsor has trouble grasping this concept....but with practice I believe it can be done. So please......ZIPPER MERGE PEOPLE!
Last weekend I lost my handicap placard for my car. It was extremely windy and it must have blown off my dashboard as I was putting groceries in my car. I was unable to get to a Service Ontario center this week to see about getting a replacement. Today (Saturday) I came home to find it in my mailbox. Thank goodness the government puts our address on the opposite side. Thank you to the good Samaritan that went out of their way to drop it off. I wish I was home to thank you personally.
Thanks so much to my east end Walmart bodyguard, Ethan, for walking me to my car after I finished my shopping this evening. It was late and I was a bit nervous on my own. I felt much more at ease thanks to your kindness!!
I recently moved to Windsor to start fresh and have been having a really hard time. Yesterday I took Vets Cab #119 after having a rough morning. The driver went above and beyond and it still makes me tear up to think of how nice he was to me. After telling him that life had been really hard lately and he had no idea how much I appreciated his generosity. He replied "I hope I started a trend for you and life gets better." Thank you kind stranger for proving to me there's still kindness in humanity. To anyone who has the pleasure of taking his cab, please tip him well. He deserves it. ❤
Thanks to the girl who let me know I was driving down riverside drive with my computer on the roof of my car!!
I was at Stop sign about to turn right at County 42 but was waiting for a white Ford SUV to pass by. The pick up truck behind me couldn't wait and honked his horn. Of course, I turned super slow as I was teaching my son how to drive. But then he sped up (where the turning left lane is at the airport), tried to pass me and I ended up going to the side road with gravel. Good thing , there is no ditch or I would have fallen into it with my two grown up children. Way to set an example to new drivers!!!
While at my vet's office in East Windsor, I observed a woman and a young child leaving, getting into a vehicle with 2 dogs. One dog looked to be like it could be the mother dog and the other, a puppy under a year old, maybe. The child, maybe six or seven years old had the young dog on a leash. As the back car door slid open , I was horrified to see the child yank the dog by the neck, like it was a ragdoll, stuffed animal, suitcase, that she had to get in the vehicle. Absolutely no regard for this poor young dog, poor baby actually. Please teach your children how to safely handle and behave around animals or don't get them!
Just had to get some drywall and 2 X 4's at Home Hardware. $50 to be delivered 1 Km. The owner of Dayus Roofing overheard us and said he would throw it in his truck.
He even helped bring it in the garage and wouldn't take my $20 I offered.
