Dedicated to the general sights, news and funny happenings all around the world
Since the flood happened on Wednesday I've seen so many people driving up and down the street at night. They get out of their vehicles to look through what is at the curb. It's always after 11:00 p.m. You make yourselves look like vultures waiting to make a buck on the things people have lost!!
I took my family out for dinner at Ming Wah Chinese Buffet to enjoy a meal. After eating I asked the waitress for the bill, and she said the family behind you paid for your entire meal and said to have a nice long weekend. Wow I was really amazed at such an act of kindness, that complete stranger would pay for a large family of five for dinner. I watched you leave with your wife and four small children before I knew you had paid the bill. Thank you so much my three children were taught a valuable lesson. I will definitely pay it forward and for that you and your beautiful family have been spotted!!!!
Hi there, I live in South Windsor and was one of many who were hit the hardest by the floods on Tuesday and Wednesday. We caught people going through our contaminated items and taking them. Please be careful what you buy on some of these facebook site's and kijiji cause there are people stealing from Windsor flooding victims. Picking out of the garbage bins and off the side of roads. They could be selling these items for there own gain. These items are contaminated with sewer and other things in the flood water.
I posted just last night, on a facebook site that I was looking to purchase a Wii system for my son, as his met it's demise this week when our basement flooded. We were pretty desperate as my boy is special needs it was so hard for him to lose his beloved toys (He lacks the fine motor skills to work a fancy controller) and he used his Wii daily. A woman messaged me offering to give my son her system. She wouldn't take any money for it. She even went out of her way to deliver it to us. I want her to know how much she brightened my boy's day. All of our day
A shout out and huge thank you to Kimberly . We wish you and your soon to be growing family all the best
YOU HAVE BEEN SPOTTED !!
As I'm lugging my flood damaged belongings to the curb yesterday some guy pulls up and starts looking at my stuff and asking how long it was in water, how deep ect. I even said to him, come on man you seriously going to be rummaging through my stuff at a time like this?!?! He took some wood and left. I was so appalled I put a sign on my pile no scavengers. So then last night arround 3 am and I hear some car doors closing, I look out and see his car driving away and things are now gone. I get it, I did leave wet musty, soon to be mouldy items that are obviously garbage to me now on my lawn. But have some compassion, it's hard enough dealing with all this mess and my belongs and memories are lost, without having people rumaging through for their own gain.
So last night I hauled all of our flood (Sewage water) stuff to the side of the road, it took hours of hard work to clean and bag up neatly for pick up, there where lots of soaking wet smelly clothes and some toys things like that. Well someone thought it was a good idea to rip those bags apart and take what they wanted and leave the rest for me to clean this morning. What the hell is wrong with people. Not just my house either, they went through all the people on my streets garbage and just threw it around trying to find stuff they wanted. I honestly hope these people get the plague from wearing contaminated clothing!! (Ok maybe I dont but I am so mad!!) Try to be considerate. We just had to clean up our belongings and toss them out, we have to pay to repair damage and now we all get to take the time to clean up another stinky mess. Watch what you buy from Kijiji people!! I have a feeling its going to be blowing up with "deals"
You pick me up every day after class out front of the Red Cross. I always thought you were a friendly, polite dude who seemed to enjoy your job and it was always good to talk you on the way home. I was sad to here you're switching routes as of Monday. There should be more drivers like you.
So Im sure everybody remembers the rainstorm the other day. I know my husband and two daughters sure do. Because we got caught in the worst of it. Our truck stalled in the middle of the lake that had formed on Dominion Boulevard, and we were sitting there for almost an hour, blocking traffic, with hungry kids (we had been on our way to get lunch). Now, I understand that its tough driving out in that weather. Its stressful. But you would not believe the number of large trucks that passed us by, who could have quickly and easily pulled us out, or even pushed us off to the side of the road so that traffic could get by a little easier. But no. Everybody was way too concerned with themselves to bother with a stranded family. Im just thankful my husband was with us, as he is the one with a cell phone. If I had been out driving, just me and the kids, that day, Im not sure what we would have done
