Driving home from work today on Manning Road a transport truck driver was standing outside his truck which had slightly slid off the road. People were stopping and attempting to help get him out. It made me smile knowing amid this ridiculous weather there are still kind people out there who are willing to get a little cold and dirty or be late to wherever they're heading to help someone get home to their family. As a daughter of a transport truck driver I can only hope that someone would extend this courtesy to my father if he were in this position! Way to go everyone!
I want to thank the Comtois family for shoveling the whole block everytime it snows this family comes out and make sure the whole entire block is done so that the elderly and people who can't do it are safe to come out of the driveway and to go into their houses just wanted to make sure that you guys were recognized for you're Good Samaritan
From the neighbor who can't shovel herself. Thanks again
Dear neighbour with the only driveway on the block - each snowfall this winter I have seen you come out of your house and park your car on the road. Not only does this make it hard for those of us who don't have the luxury of a driveway to park but it actually goes against what the city needs for plowing, as they ask for cars to be off the road as much as possible. We have a lot of elderly people and young families and to watch people walk almost a block because you have parked one and a half car lengths on the street breaks my heart - especially in this weather. Please be mindful of that. P.S: your neighbour who walks down the block shovels your sidewalk each snowfall without a mention.
This morning I drove 20 minutes to The Job Shoppe in Tecumseh to apply for a position I seen on a kijiji add last night for a produce grader out in Kingsville or Leamington & was told to look into another agency because of my lack of experience.
I realize my lack of experience is a problem but I am sure there could have been other jobs available for me if I didn t qualify for this specific job. Although instead of this lady who worked there to try to help me find something more suitable for me I was turned away. I thought her JOB was to help me find a JOB. Am I wrong to feel this way? I drive and clearly have no problem driving a far distance to make money considering the job I went to apply for was all the way out in Kingsville or Leamington and I live in Windsor. I am extremely responsible and punctual; I don t party and would be at work every day, as well as on time. I am a hard worker; all my previous employers have said so about me.
I am going back there tomorrow to hand in another resume until someone gives me a job so I can keep a roof over my head and feed my family.
I haven't spotted anything. I am hoping all of you can help. I need to travel from Belle River (Hwy 22) to Riverside Dr. W. past bridge, then out to Amherstburg with a stop in between.. How are the roads so far? I already heard of a few accidents. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks from a grandmother who wants to visit grandkids today.
On this snowy morning my son unfortunately was scheduled to take his G licence driving test. He was told to be there at 7:55 for an 8:25 test. He received no call to tell him that it wouldn't happen because of the weather conditions. He left early and got there by 7:45. The sign on the door says they don't open until 8:30 ???? He sat in his car until 8:15 and then went in when they opened the door. He was asked what they could do to help him and he said he was there for his test. The lady said that they had cancelled all of the tests for today. My son asked why no one called to let him know and was told that they did not have everyone's phone number. He rescheduled his test and walked out to his car. At that moment his phone rang and it was the woman he was just talking to calling him to tell him his test was cancelled. It was 5 minutes before his test time. Thanks for letting him drive in terrible weather to find out that his test was cancelled do to unsafe driving conditions. Unbelievable.
My wife is one of the strongest woman I know. After being diagnosed with cancer she kept her faith and stayed strong. Now years later, hearing the news that she is now a survivor and has won the battle with this horrible disease the first thing she did is stand there and raise her middle finger and say "fuck you cancer". I just want her to know I love her and I will stand by her forever and never leave her side. Don't let little things bother you, appreciate life and always have faith.
Signed,
A proud husband
