I got a phone call last night at 11:20 from a guy claiming to be from Microsoft. He told me that my computer was sending out malicious material and I need to follow his steps to stop this from happening. He told me to use the run command and type in 'www.support.me' which brought me to a website called 'secure.logmeinrescue.com' and input a six digit number. When I questioned him about his authenticity, he gave me my address and postal code. I told him this is common information that can be obtained easily by a simple 411.ca search or even by looking in the phone book and I needed more proof that he is actually from Microsoft (because they NEVER call people for any reason). I googled the site he told me to go to and got this (http:/ / www.infosecisland.com/ blogview/ 15066-Cyber-Criminals-Just-Came-A-Callin-At-My-House.html) so I told him that I was going to update my computer and, if the problem persists, he can call me in a day or two to solve the problem. This is when he started getting ignorant to me and threatened to 'brick' my computer and block my IP address if I don't do as he says. He called me an a$$hole quite a few times until I told him I was calling the police as soon as I was finished talking to him. After he hung up the phone, I called the police and they confirmed it was a scam and to not ever enter the six digit code because it would give him full control of my computer. Luckily, I know enough about computers that I didn't fall for this, but I fear there are many others that may become a victim of this.
