To the woman who helped me

To the woman who helped me...

Today I was in the Value Village checkout on Walker road and my 1 and 2 year old sons started having a meltdown, mainly my 1 year old who was very tired. The line was a little long and they tend to get antsy when we're not moving. I was definitely blushing, embarrassed and could feel the heat of people staring. I was about to get out of line and take them out but it was almost our turn so was hesitant to leave.

I was trying to calm them by showing them their toys and talk to them when you, the kind blonde woman behind me in line approached me and told me not to worry about it. You must have noticed the troubled, stressed out look on my face while trying, but failing to soothe them. Then you got down to my youngest sons level, (the one who was still crying) and talked to him in a sweet voice in attempts to stop his crying. We talked about how you have a toddler too and knew how I felt. I instantly felt better and less embarrassed.

I proceeded to pick up my youngest and push my oldest son in the stroller which calmed him down. It was then my turn to cash out and in my frazzled state of mind, I almost forgot to give the cashier the shirt I had hanging on the front of the stroller. You handed it to me, and then offered to help me out to my car. You pushed the stroller with my oldest son in it while I carried out my one year old and also carried a bag.

If I wasn't so stressed out and caught off guard (in a good way, because there aren't that many people that would do that) I would have cried. I am tearing up as I write this. Also, I am completely lacking in social skills since I've been at home with two toddlers for the past few years so excuse my awkward attempt at paying you back for your kindness by giving you coffee money. 🙈

I have a little more faith today in humanity because of you. The world could definitely use more kindness. Thank you so much. ❤️
