On Friday afternoon I was at Costco when my 4 year old granddaughter suddenly went limp and lost consciousness. When I ran to the front of the store with her in my arms and yelled for someone to call 911, customer Todd Dupuis, who is CPR and Safety trained, immediately came to my aid and the staff at Costco immediately sprang into action. One employee called 911. Other employees directed us to a medical room with a bed and another employee calmed my 8 year old granddaughter, who was terrified. Costco employees were stationed at each entrance to get the ambulance to us as quickly as possible. By this time, my 4 year old granddaughter was going in and out of consciousness. A huge Thank You to Todd Dupuis for knowing what to do and keeping her engaged until EMS arrived. A big Thank You to the EMS gentleman who arrived first, attended to her and told us she was going to be okay. A big Thank You to the two Paramedics who attended to her and took her to the hospital in the ambulance. I couldn't go in the ambulance with her because I had my other granddaughter with me. They knew she was scared going in the ambulance without me and made the ambulance ride sound like it was going to be a great adventure. And last, but definitely not least, a big Thank You to my 8 year old granddaughter. Once the Costco employee calmed her down, she was able to answer questions from the Paramedics and EMS that I couldn't answer. She answered the questions so well and so calmly that one of the Paramedics asked her if she had ever thought of becoming a doctor, which put a big smile on her face.
Thank you to everyone with all my heart. I wish I knew all your names so I could Spot each one of you personally.
