Well this is not really a spotting, however some issues need to be put out there. I am 51 and have a friend that is 70, her husband is 88. Her husband is the kind of guy that you cannot keep still, does all his own home maintenance, repairs and even puts his own Christmas lights up, until his health took a turn on Christmas Day. She was informed of a program in the city called "Snow Angels". They are volunteers that help seniors and disabled people by shoveling the snow. I do know of this, my daughter volunteered years ago in her high school years. She thought she'd call to look into getting some help as she also has health issues, if I myself was capable I would definitely be glad to help out. I was absolutely stunned, she told me that they didn't qualify for the program because they did not have a city sidewalk. What the hell??Really??
So in other words, they I guess should only leave the house if there is no snow on the path or in the driveway?? How well do assisted walkers work through the snow? They are seniors for goodness sake...they have paid their dues and many, many years of taxes. To get shafted because they don't have a "city sidewalk"?? Hmm wonder how many feet of their property and driveway is actually city property? Go figure, we as home owners maintain a portion of city property every year. We don't volunteer, it's mandatory!!! I know, I have a ditch that is city property, my responsibility or pay a fine. So, where is justice when it comes to seniors needing a little help with snow removal? There has to be some compassion, it's a volunteer program...the city doesn't even pay these people!!! Those golden years...aren't so golden!!!
