Walmart on Dougall Avenue

Every Christmas my family plays a Kris Kringle game where each of us spend $40.00 on a gift. This year I received McDonalds gift cards (it came with 4 cards attached to each other each with $10.00 on them). Mind you.. I thought this was weird that all 4 cards were attached to each other since I worked retail and know that each card should be scanned in order to activate them, but I went on with my night thinking if something was wrong with them I have the receipt and everything should be okay. The person who bought them found it odd how the employee was trying to activate them and double checked with him to see if they were okay. He assured her everything was okay and the cards were active. I went to go use 2 of the cards at a McDonalds and the cards were never activated. I was told to go back to the Walmart they were purchased at to get them activated which was the Walmart on Dougall Avenue. Yesterday I decided to wait 30 minutes at the Customer Service desk only for the employee to look at me like I was some sort of criminal when I asked her to activate my cards. She didn't really know what to do so she called for a Manager. The manager then asked for the package the cards came in. I advised her I did not receive a package, the cards were just stuck together which I found VERY odd and were wrapped in a christmas box with the receipt. The manager then told me that there is nothing they can do and to call the 1-866 number on the back of the cards. I call the 1-866 number only for them to tell me the cards were never activated and I need to go back to the Walmart to have them activate the cards since they were purchased there (common sense), but they gave me a McDonalds hotline number to call. I call the hotline number and they told me the same thing and directed me with a Walmart number to call. I call the THIRD number and they told me to send an email with pictures of the receipt, pictures of the back of the cards as well as the store number and a whole bunch of other crap and HOPEFULLY I would be able to go back to the Walmart once again to get them activated. Thankfully the person who purchased the cards knows the manager at the Walmart in Amherstburg and he is willing to activate the cards even though they were not purchased there. He will also be putting in a complaint about the Dougall Walmart. This really frustrated me because the Dougall Manager I spoke to should have at least called the 1-866 number on the cards to see for herself if they were ever activated to avoid this whole fiasco. The reason I am writing this is to warn people because I truly hope this does not happen to someone else. Please make sure when you purchase gift cards that EACH ONE is scanned through to be activated. I know they say to keep the receipt, but in this case does it even matter because I had the receipt and they still refused to activate the cards. Please be careful.
